It's BEAN going well (snigger)

coffee beans - adored by all and misunderstood by many. we've started making a point to customers that we sell coffee beans. but more importantly, we trying to educate our market that coffee fresh is as important as getting your produce fresh. coffee is a perishable product that should only be held in bean form for a week or two AND held in the right conditions (no freezing/ fridges please just a cool dark room). ground coffee is a no no (unless you intend to drink a pound of it right there and then!), because ground coffee deteriorates rapidly.

our big selling points are twofold:
1. we offer are a quality bean
2. and coffee only days off the roast
quality and freshness. in the coffee world, these words are massively abused. from our perspective, quality means having a roaster carefully choose the best aribica beans and carefully monitor the cooking process achieve the roast profile that brings out the best in the bean. by 'fresh' we mean Transcend roast our coffee on a weekly basis and we sell/ use everything we receive within 8 days.
it is not easy pitching this to customers but the staff work hard to point out that quality fresh roasted coffee should be a customer's priority. we have date the bags showing customers just how fresh they are getting the coffee which usually impresses and then we talk about the quality of the bean.

we started taking the message a little further with an incentive of a free drink and it seems to be working. we've increased bean sales massively and the display by the till has a strong impact too. another month goes by and another record breaking month for us.
