no, no thankfully it's not quite that time of year, in fact Edmonton is enjoying a glorious Indian Summer right now. Nothing quite beats watching red leaves fall against the sky blue background...
snowballs as in the workload is starting to snowball. The very notion I have time to write this worries me. I worry that I am ignoring things I know I should be doing. To say that we are getting busy is an understatement and I am actually not talking about customers (although sales are growing nicely). This will be our first proper Christmas - last year we did not open our doors until the 8th December. At this moment in time we are trying to setup Christmas party menus and plan how we would run both open and private parties. We are also looking at how we would put together giftware with the new retail product in store (I'll be blogging that soon). Not having a clue on the interest we will get on retail makes it difficult to know how much giftware we need to create. And being short of stock would be a missed opportunity. Price points, cost of packaging, positioning in-store, policy on returns, product knowledge of staff etc etc. And we're suppose to be a cafe concentrating on making drinks and food!
Then's there the lease negotiations. Nothing I can tell you publicly but it's taken a lot of discussion with a friend who is representing our interests. That started all this week. When it's all over there will hopefully be a lot to tell.
Then there's the wifi with Scott and Jason having spent A LOT of time trying to resolve the conflicts going on around the cafe.
Then there's design work the Matt is doing for us. Two new ads, labels, signs, stickers and everything else. Lots of work and little I can say about it now. I will be writing an entry soon about Matt's efforts to help bring the haven brand alive and making it look professional.
And with all this going on, I just thank my lucky stars to be working with great people and deal with the customers we have (everyone seems so nice!). It may feel like the busiest job in the world but it feels like the best job in the world too!
